The Modern Apprenticeship in Logistics Operations is designed for anyone in Scotland who wants to build a career in the movement and management of goods—whether you’re just leaving school, switching careers, or already employed and looking to upskill. It’s open to people of all ages and backgrounds, with pathways tailored to roles in warehousing, distribution, transport planning, inventory control, and supply chain coordination. Employers can use it to train new recruits or develop existing staff, making it a flexible and inclusive route into one of the country’s most vital and fast-paced sectors.
How is the apprenticeship delivered?
As with all our apprenticeship delivery we provide a range of flexible learning methods which we tailor to suit the needs of the employer and the employee-candidate. This may involve one or a hybrid approach of observations in the workplace, access to online learning, attending face to face courses and collating a portfolio of evidence
Which apprenticeships are available?
Logistics apprenticeships are available at SCQF Level 5 (Freight Logistics) and SCQF Level 7 (Logistics Operations). Learners may begin at Level 5 in warehousing and transport support, then progress to Level 7 for advanced coordination and planning.

The Freight Logistics Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 5 provides an entry‑level pathway into Scotland’s transport and logistics sector, combining paid employment with structured training. Apprentices gain practical experience in areas such as warehousing, distribution, stock control, and the safe handling of goods, while also learning about transport regulations and customer service. Alongside these technical skills, the programme develops core skills in communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving, as well as meta‑skills like adaptability, confidence, and responsibility. Supported by their employer and training provider, learners work toward a nationally recognised qualification that prepares them for roles such as warehouse operative, logistics assistant, or transport support worker, with clear progression routes into supervisory and management positions within the wider logistics industry.

The Logistics Operations Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 7 develops advanced skills for managing and coordinating the movement of goods and services across supply chains.
