What is the Visionary Leadership Programme?

Our Visionary Leadership Programme is a management development programme aimed at experienced and senior managers. It explores management theories and models and how to use these to improve the performance of the team, the organisation and of themselves. 

It follows the UK’s professional standards and is endorsed by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This means all participants receive a CMI Endorsed Certificate simply for attending. It is delivered in 3 separate full days. 

What are the benefits of the Programme?

Many managers are promoted without any support or development. This is referred to as ‘accidental managers’. This course provides experienced managers with the tools and techniques needed to excel in their role. The aim is to increase the confidence, skills and abilities of the manager whilst benefiting the teams and organisation they work for and with. It also provides them with a safe environment to share their experiences and learn with others. 

What will I learn?

We have created this programme around what business owners and managers perceive is needed for the experienced manager. It includes many of the topics that managers often find challenging without formal training. Click below to find out more:

In Day 1 we explore the need for managers and leaders to be self aware, maximise and reflect on their own performance, be aware of their impact on others, and show commitment to continuing their own personal and professional development.

Topics include:

  • The difference between Management & Leadership
  • Theories and models of management styles
  • The characteristics of successful managers/leaders (including emotional & social intelligence)
  • The role and skills needed
  • Assessment of current skills and those needed for the future

In day 2 we explore interacting and engaging with colleagues, clients, customers, partners, competitors and other stakeholders. How you communicate and build essential relationships effectively with others impacts interpersonal excellence

Topics include:

  • Interpersonal styles (Colourme Profiling tool optional)
  • Building effective work relationships
  • Negotiating and influencing
  • Having difficult conversations
  • Managing conflict

In day 3 we explore how to measure the output and results of an organisation, department and/or team and how it has been achieved against the goals or objectives set. 

Topics include:

  • Organisational goals, values and culture
  • Setting goals, monitoring and measuring performance and giving feedback
  • Managing poor performance
  • Leading change

How is it delivered?

There are two routes to completing this programme. It can be delivered in-house or in a public course. In-house means that we deliver it to employees within just one company. The benefits are that attendees get to understand the challenges of different managers across the business. Alternatively, we deliver this publicly so individual employees can sign up. The benefit of this method is that they get to learn from fellow managers in different businesses and industries.

Cath Sutherland

Cath experienced 20 years as a multiple award winning manager driving team and organisational performance before moving into learning & development. For the past 15 years she has designed and created management programmes for organisations across Scotland. In her role as director she has worked with her team to develop managers at junior, senior and director level.

Willie Maccoll

FCMI

Willie is an Organisational Development Consultant with extensive experience gained from working across a range of businesses and organisations in different sectors. He has particular interests in Strategic Development, and Workforce Engagement in its widest sense. Aside from holding many Operational roles throughout his career, Willie has worked for more than 20 years at a strategic level, in the UK and across Europe.
